MY PHILOSOPHY
in·te·grated
/ˈin(t)əˌɡrāt/verb
to combine (one thing) with another so that they become a whole
INTEGRATING ALL ASPECTS OF YOU
Your body is constantly being influenced by the essence of who you are, the psychological, internal, or social factors that alters how you move through the world. I will take all of these components into consideration as I work with you. For example, someone who works at a desk all day will have very different challenges than someone who does hard manual labor all day. Someone who has a high level of stress in their lives will carry tension in their bodies differently from someone who is experiencing profound grief. A baby can be a joyful blessing in our lives, but the presence of that infant can also lead to sleep deprivation that will impact how our body heals.
Factors to be considered:
Biological= Physiological (anatomy, health, water, food, sleep)
Psychological= Thoughts, emotions and behaviours
Sociological= External factors (work/school, peers, friends, family. cultural, economic, environmental, safety, love, connection)
Spiritual= Internal factors (intuition, true inner self, love, acceptance, connection)
INTEGRATING MINDFULNESS INTO PRACTICE
To address some of these confounding factors that impact your body’s function, I often implement the mindfulness principles of yoga into every stage of your continuum of care
Yoga poses
Pranayama (breath practice)
Meditation
Visualization
Mindful movement
Awareness exercises
INTEGRATING INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATION
To facilitate your comprehensive care I regularly turn to and receive referrals from:
Trainers & Coaches
Physicians & Surgeons
Lawyers & Patient Advocates
Pharmacists
Psychologists
In addition, I often co-treat with the Massage therapists, Acupuncturist, Chiropractor, and other Physiotherapists when I feel you can benefit from a collective effort.
INTEGRATING GLOBAL APPROACH
All the parts of your body do not function in isolation. Everything is connected. Every part of your body influences every other adjacent part of your body. For this reason, when I examine you I will be looking at your full movement picture. Your primary concern, your reason for coming to see me, may be the primary cause or it may be a secondary issue that is highlighting an underlying complication. As we work through your assessment and treatment we will work to the root of the problem to help you move your full body with more freedom.
“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress;
Working hard for something we love is called passion”
